What it is
The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) helps very low-income families, the elderly, and people with disabilities afford safe, decent housing in the private market.
Who may qualify
- Households at or below 50% of area median income
- U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens
- Pass background and rental history checks
How to apply
- 1Apply through your local Public Housing Agency
- 2Join the waiting list (can be long)
- 3Search for an approved rental once selected
